Laura founded Orchard to give strategy an equal seat at the table. We’re the only agency in North America that has tangibly changed the unequal power dynamic between creative and strategy. The result? We get to insightful creative ideas that drive business results and we get there quickly (removing silos, tensions and the typical back and forth between the two departments).
Laura’s previous experience includes agency and brand side. Laura worked at Goodby Silverstein & Partners as a senior brand strategist on Comcast, Haagen Dazs, Dreyer’s/Edy's, Foster Farms, and Commonwealth Bank of Australia. After leaving Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Laura worked as a brand strategist at Google Creative Lab. At Google she oversaw several agency partnerships while developing strategy and creative work for Chrome browser, Chromebook, search and some very confidential Google X projects she is not at liberty to discuss.
Prior to Orchard, David has spent the duration of his career between the U.S. and U.K., doing a pretty decent job in both markets - a rare and unique feat in this industry, as although English is a shared language between the two countries, this is about all that unites them.
Stints at Mother London, Goodby Silverstein + Partners San Francisco, Bartle Bogle Hegarty London, Wieden + Kennedy New York, and Droga5 London have found him leading global business, transforming his clients’ fortunes, and amassing a tidy collection of plaudits which include many awards and a handful of Agency of the Year titles.
In his spare time, of which he has very little, David writes for the screen and his latest short film had its American debut at Sundance in January.
Barney spent the first 14 years of his career at BBH in London and NY, when it was one of the very best agencies in the world. His last role was President of the New York office and a member of the Global Group Board.
During his tenure, the agency was awarded Campaign Agency of the Year 4 times, as well as Webby’s Agency of the Year and the IPA & APG Effectiveness Agency of the Year. Together with Laura as his client at Google, they created the launch campaign for Chrome, including “Dear Sophie” - still considered by Google to be their best ever campaign.
He then co-founded the agency BFG in 2011. The agency appeared on the AdAge and / or Creativity A-List every year of his tenure. It was also named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies, Forbes’ Most Influential Agencies and 4A’s Midsize Agency of the Year. Barney sold his stake in BFG in 2018 to then go and found Orchard.
Barney has an Executive MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
