Editorial Boutique EXILE Welcomes Multifaceted, Award-Winning Editor Kyle Brown

With nearly a decade’s worth of experience in the editing suite, Brown has established his cutting craft at the likes of NO6 and Arcade Edit. Along the way, he’s played a pivotal role in notable campaigns including the Cannes Titanium Lion/One Show Gold-winning “Project Daniel” for Intel, Tim & Eric and Jeff Goldblum’s offbeat, entertaining collaboration for GE, and Loctite’s lauded “Win at Glue” Super Bowl spot.

Now as part of EXILE, Brown has found an ideal, highly creative environment in which to hone his editorial work and forge deeper creative bonds with directors, agencies and clients. “The name EXILE is everywhere,” he says. “You see a spot you love, look it up – EXILE. And when you dig deeper, you find a well-rounded, incredibly talented shop doing great work populated with people who are universally liked and respected by both clients and peers. EXILE is a name associated with quality, talent, creativity and respect – how could I not want to be a part of that.”

Throughout his career, Brown has seamlessly navigated the creative spectrum, bringing his editorial flourish to campaigns for top-tier brands including Nike, Comcast Xfinity, AT&T, T-Mobile, Bud Light and HomeAway, as well as cutting documentaries and long-form narrative projects. According to the newly minted EXILE editor, every project merits its own approach and point of view, and understanding that helps inform the workflow and style. “Naturally, past experiences inspire each project and give you a variety of tools to tackle the task at hand, but it’s always nice to find a new approach or way of looking at something,” Brown adds. “At the end of the day, they are all stories that should make you feel the desired emotion, and use that as my starting point. From there, each story has its own heartbeat that determines how it wants to be told.”

When asked what he feels are his favorite career highlights to this point, Brown reflects on his unique experiences.

“I’m a product of MTV and a culture collector, so it’s those sort of pop culture experiences that really stand out. Of course it’s nice to have your work recognized or in award shows, but I will always think first of the kid in me who was excited to meet Mr. T on set, work with Dr. Dre in my edit bay, or getting to have the song ‘Colors’ by Ice-T on my reel. Those are fun wins and the experiences I am most proud of, they make me smile and don’t collect dust.”

According to EXILE Executive Producer CL Weaver, Brown’s vast experience, versatility and storytelling vision make him a valuable, fitting addition to the editorial team. “We are so thrilled to be working with Kyle. He’s that special talent who can seamlessly switch skill sets from cutting some of the best comedy spots out there to editing big visual anthems. He has such a dedication to his craft, which is what unites all of our EXILE editors. We knew he had to become one of us!”
