Sinopsis ZagrebBeThere: gamified city exploration
A mobile app for tourists in Zagreb, Croatia, leading them through hidden insider locations
Ever wanted a city guide who will show you awesome spots known only to insiders? Two agencies Bruketa&Zinic OM and Brlog devised a mobile app Zagreb Be There together with The Zagreb Tourist Board which offers a gamified experience while revealing Zagreb’s lesser known gems.
A lot of research went into choosing some of the most interesting places in Zagreb and compiling them into thematic paths. This app is made especially for backpackers who swarm Zagreb in Summer. They are young, they want to explore places using tips from insiders and they go nowhere without their smartphones.
That’s why the app offers five possible paths, each one representing Zagreb in a different way, among them some unknown and indie places the backpackers would be interested in. A gamification factor was added to the experience. Users choose a path, check in to places, share their photo via Facebook or Twitter using the #BeThereZagreb hashtag, and unlock rewards when they finish a path.
The Space Explorer path for example contains locations of all the grounded planets of the Solar System from the art installations by Ivan Kozaric and Davor Preis. The Hidden Spots path reveals for example the last remaining Upper town well, the abandoned graveyard in Jurjevska street, or the painted water pump dedicated to the popular singer-songwriter Dino Dvornik from the series Pimp my Pump. The Indie Zagreb path contains for example the Museum of Broken Relationships, Street Art Museum or the "Zagreb, I Love You" memorial to Tom Gotovac, one of the greatest Croatian conceptual artists. The remaining paths are Refreshing Zagreb with the best parks and Classic Zagreb with the most important tourist sights.
The app is available for Android and iPhone devices. It can be downloaded from the microsite betherezagreb.com or via a QR code from the flyers available at all relevant tourist spots in Zagreb.
The rewards users can win are ticket discounts or 2-in-1 bike rental offers. The partners of the project are The Museum of Broken Relationships, Lauba gallery, Technical Museum, NextBike and the Zagreb Zoo.

Resultado In the first week the app had more than 1000 downloads, the buzz about it spread accross the media and social networks.
