Betsan has an ability to put anyone at ease and has a gift for working with non-actors and real scenarios. She delivers sentiment without sentimentality, elicits compelling performances and brings an original visual style to television drama.
She received an Emmy nomination for her work on Waking the Dead and is the only woman to have directed the series. She has also directed two features, the thriller, Dad Savage and the Victorian melodrama, Lady Audley’s Secret. She’s recently produced projects for Channel 4 and the BBC including an adaptation of Zadie Smiths novel NW. Her latest feature Dusty and Me is currently featured in U.S. film festivals
Her short films have won many awards, including a BAFTA for Spoonface Steinberg. Recent ad campaigns for Aldi, L’Oreal and McDonalds have seen her directing real people in testimonial spots.
