Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship Program Launches at Miami Ad School

Miami Ad School Toronto today announced the establishment of the school’s first-ever scholarship program.

The Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship, funded by Broken Heart Love Affair (BHLA) will cover the costs of a$40,000 CAD 2-year full scholarship program at M.AD, and was established in the memory of the great nephew of BHLA partner Beverley Hammond who lost his battle with cancer in February 2021. Miami Ad School is matching the funds from BHLA, expanding the program to fund an additional student.

The 2022 Scholarships are open to applicants who are newly accepted or incoming full-time students at M.AD Toronto in the Art Direction or Copywriting Portfolio program and starting full time studies in April 2022 or July 2022. The Scholarship was created for individuals who have overcome hardship to pursue their creative dreams.  Interested applicants can apply through Miles Philip Hammond Scholarship | Miami Advertising School - Toronto (miamiadschool.ca)

An important goal of the Scholarship in its first year is to create awareness about the opportunities at M.AD and in the creative industry with communities that are under-represented in advertising.   Epitaph Media has donated media planning and a $5,000 USD media buy in support of that push.

"We are honoured and privileged to partner with BHLA, to help provide new opportunities to creative students in Canada.”, said Aman Gulati, M.AD Toronto Founder & Director. “In memory of Miles Philip Hammond, we hope to establish new relationships with individuals who’ve had to overcome hardships, in hopes to provide them with bright futures.”

“In our own first year as an agency Miles was our greatest source of inspiration,” said Denise Rossetto, Broken Heart Love Affair Partner & Chief Creative Officer. “This little guy had the most beautiful smile, and as he faced life’s greatest challenge that smile would not give in. Nothing could stop him from making it to one year and he leaves us with a legacy of inspiration that will be in our hearts forever.”

Miles’ parents Kate and Kent Hammond added, "We are so excited that this scholarship will be able to help someone pursue their passion, while celebrating Miles' life and all that he was. To be involved in choosing a candidate who has faced their own challenges honours the strength and perseverance our son demonstrated throughout his short life. We feel incredibly fortunate to be able to have another way to remember and celebrate our sweet boy.”

Applications open on Monday December 20th, 2021, and the deadline for entries will be February 28th, 2022. M.AD and the family will select the two recipients to be announced on March 11th, 2022.
