Brief | All over the world human rights activists are imprisoned by repressive regimes. One way to protect them from torture and repression is mail from abroad. It shows prison staff that the world is watching. The International Society For Human Rights wanted to raise awareness and generate letters to amplify said effect on prison guards.We created a series of stamps with portraits of 10 imprisoned human rights activists. Stamps that would show prison guards that the addressed inmates are internationally respected persons.To make these stamps something special and create a buzz, we collaborated with German artists who are famous on Instagram. The result was 10 unique portraits which were turned into official German stamps. The artists shared the prisoners‘ stories and the stamps. Further artists, like world-famous illustrator Christoph Niemann, supported the campaign with illustrations, calling people to order these “VERY IMPORTANT STAMPS” stamps and write to the prisoners. |
