Sinopsis Muse Brands, based in San Francisco, worked with the San Francisco Film Society to refresh the brand identity of the 58th San Francisco International Film Festival (SFIFF) with a design and theme that mixes a vintage poster feel with a contemporary sensibility.
Muse founders Patricia Ebner and Lo Braz have been creating brand strategy, campaigns and activations for over 15 years – for global brands and new players – in the automotive, retail, luxury, fashion, food, and public organizations sectors.
The design is a throwback to the RGB color model and inspired by the revolutionary movie poster design of Saul Bass (Vertigo). The main visual element in the SFIFF poster are the projection of the primary colors and at the center is an iris. Campaign elements includes poster, transit, web, billboard, wild postings and program design.
“The San Francisco Film Society celebrates the best in international cinema at SFIFF each year, building on Festival’s rich history and engaging contemporary film-lovers by bringing the finest films and filmmakers to the Bay Area. Muse’s incredibly engaging design has perfectly captured the spirit of the Festival, and it’s an absolute hit with our audiences,” said San Francisco Film Society Director of Communications and Content Bill Proctor.
"We wanted to illustrate the everlasting thrill movies are capable of. Here's our way to rethink and celebrate the 58th edition of the longest-running film festival in the Americas: a hypnotic design with a hint of nostalgia carrying a myriad of cognitive emotions audiences of the world had been exposed to ever since this visionary expression was first created. A strong image that stays with you even when you close your eyes,” said Patricia Ebner, Chief Creative Officer and Co-Founder of Muse.
The 58th San Francisco International Film Festival takes place in various locations throughout San Francisco April 23-May 7. More information can be found at http://festival.sffs.org
