Veteran marketer and brand strategist Amani Duncan has spent nearly three decades honing her ability to identify and execute on strategic partnerships to help brands grow their audience, while leveraging and expanding their own value by tapping into creative brand partners. Now at the helm of BBH NY – a creative agency equally obsessed with increasing brands’ value – she serves as President, overseeing day-to-day activities while also managing high-level strategy and direction for the agency’s clients, including Google, Samsung, Martell US, and Brighthouse Financial. Most recently, Duncan helped bring to fruition Glass Ceiling Breaker, a glass portrait homage to the U.S. Vice President, Kamala Harris.
Duncan’s extensive career spans a diverse range of some of the biggest names in entertainment and marketing. Before joining BBH NY, Duncan served as MTV’s Senior Vice President of Music, where she strengthened the network’s industry relationships through innovative artist-driven initiatives, strategic campaigns and the creation of music content. During her tenure at MTV, Duncan breathed new life into classic shows like TRL, Fear Factor and Unplugged, helping them connect with a whole new generation of music lovers.
Prior to MTV, Duncan was Head of Brand Marketing at Martin Guitar – the acoustic guitar manufacturer founded nearly 200 years ago. She helped reimagine the timeless brand, crafting an ambitious global marketing plan that paid off.
As Chief Marketing Officer of Sean Combs’ Bad Boy Worldwide Entertainment Group, Duncan orchestrated synergy through marketing and publicity across the company’s many verticals, including fragrances, clothing, music, TV/film, spirits and charitable initiatives.
Duncan has has been profiled by Billboard, Fast Company, the Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal and more. A founding member of Chief, the leadership network for women, Duncan shares her proprietary “success mission” and “be the way” message of empowerment and self-determination to women across the marketing and entertainment industries. She is a 2021 Campaign US Female Frontier Award - Leading the Charge Creative honoree, currently serves on the 4A’s Board of Directors and Facebook’s Global Creative Council, an Advisory Board member of I Am A VOTER and previously served as a Board Member for ADC Global. She has also been invited to be on the jury of various creative award shows (TBA) and also to speak as a guest speaker at Harvard Business School.
