Filosofía n Belgium, children’s reading skills are getting worse. It is proven that reading out loud helps kids to read better. But that’s not always an easy or a fun thing to do. Ketnet, the children’s TV channel that wants to make education fun, made Ketnet Dub, an app with interactive animated cartoons in which children can become the voice of one of the characters. In the app, children can choose a cartoon character based on their current reading level. The higher their reading level, the more difficult the words will be. During the cartoon, subtitles for their character will appear, and children have to read the words. Their voice is recorded and added to the video. Afterwards, the children can rewatch their movie, hear how they’ve done and send the video to their parents, friends or teacher.
