Sinopsis | In St Petersburg it rains 200 days per year, but fortunately there are lots of covered passageways to hide in. Unfortunately, most of them don't have mobile coverage. Mobile operator Tele2 combined these two phenomena to come up with Rain WiFi, the world's first rain-powered 4G-router. Rain flow activates a turbine that generates electricity and powers up the router. So everyone can enjoy free 4G from Tele 2. What do you get when you add two negatives together? Free WiFi, if you’re in St. Petersburg. The city, famous for both its 200 days of rain each year and its many narrow courtyards, needed a place where people would be happy to get stuck in the rain. Unfortunately, most of these covered passageways don't have mobile coverage. Based on a customer poll, mobile operator Tele2 installed rain-powered 4G routers in some of the city’s most popular dead zones and turned two negatives into a positive. |
